Director of Rosfinmonitoring Yury Chikhanchin participated in the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC) meeting held under the leadership of NAC Chairman and Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov. The meeting addressed the issues related to the fight against penetration of terrorists and their accomplices into the territory of Russia via migration channels as well as discussed relevant problems concerning terrorism prevention in the migrant workers’ communities.
The meeting organized via videoconferencing was attended by NAC members, plenipotentiary representatives of the President of the Russian Federation in federal districts, and heads of federal executive authorities.
The Committee Chairman informed the meeting participants about the outcomes of the measures taken, owing to which more than 820 people suspected of being involved in terrorist and extremist activities have been stopped from entering the country since early 2019. He noted that international terrorist organizations must be prevented from misusing the migration flows.
Following the discussion, the parties outlined the priorities concerning enhancement of preventive efforts in the migration field as well as improvement of cooperation among government agencies in this sector.
The attention of the meeting participants was also focused on the need to increase the effectiveness of efforts undertaken by government agencies and anti-terrorist commissions in constituent entities of the Russian Federation in order to prevent terrorist activities among foreign nationals.
