The forum was attended by 135 representatives from more than 50 delegations.
Yu. Lafitskaya, Deputy Head of Directorate and Head of Department at Rosfinmonitoring's Legal Directorate, who was elected in 2019 a co-chairman of the FATF Working Group on AML/CFT Policy, co-chaired the meeting for the first time along with her colleague from Singapore.
Participants discussed issues related to the regulation of virtual assets, countries' positive experience in this area as well as common challenges, including in building a legal framework and developing tools and technologies needed for the implementation of the effective supervision in this area.
In addition, given the cross-border nature of virtual assets, participants emphasized the importance of international cooperation.
This topic will be discussed further at the FATF Plenary meeting and subsequent forum meetings in May 2020.
